Spiral Jetty

We drove out to see this spiral jetty yesterday, it was pretty cool. It was created in 1970 by artist sculptor Robert Smithson. The water levels rose after and it was submerged for over 30 years. It surfaced again in 2004 for a bit but then was under water again until spring of last year. It is on the Great Salt Lake out by Golden Spike Monument. With the water levels rising again it will probably be submerged again by late this spring. You can walk out on the spiral, it was fun! The whole spiral is about 1500 feet long and the walk ways are about 15 feet wide.

Finished Scrapbook Room!!!

It didn't beat me down! It wore me out but I prevailed. We put the finishing shelf in last night and called it complete. If you have been in my craft room you will notice that I flipped the room opposite from what it was. I wanted my work table in front of the window, and I love how it turned out...everything fits so much better than it did. I painted the room a cheery color called Creamsicle and put in a beautiful laminate floor. I put a large rug under the work table which almost didn't get to stay...when I first rolled it out it smelled like dry dog food....YUCK! But after a few days I either got used to it or the smell went away...either way the rug stays.

My Scrapbook Room....as it is tonight

We have decided that our upstairs rooms are all in need of new flooring (carpet, etc.) and paint...it has been 17 years and we have done nothing with them! Anyway, I made the comment that I wished my work table in my craft room was in front of the window....one thing led to another and it was decided we should empty the entire room and make that room our first project! I have been emptying the room all week long and for any of you that have been in that room you know what a job that was!
So, this is how it looks right now...it makes me feel so sad! But it will be so pretty when we get done. I think I will do laminate wood floor, easier for clean up in there, and I'm not sure what paint color I am going with....I am leaning towards a soft sage green with pink accents...but who knows!
Anyway, just wanted to share this sad little space with you.
EDIT UPDATE: Ok, my idea of soft sage green with pink accents turned into Creamsicle with sage accents! Bright & Cheery....

New Family Member!

Yesterday Michael and I became "Great Grandparents"! Our grandaughter, Reanna, gave birth to Icelynn Dawn Glover. She was 7lb 3oz and is 19" long...has lots of pretty dark hair and looks exactly like her mother did when she was born! She is beautiful!

She came in to the world with what they call wet lung and is having respiratory problems so they have her in the nursery on oxygen and we aren't sure at this point when she will get to go home. With the wetness in her lungs, when she breathes her lungs stick together. Besides the oxygen they have her on some antibiotics to prevent infection in the lungs. We couldn't go in the nursery so our daughter Bonnie (the new grandma) took our camera in and got some pics for us. We were able to see her through the nursery window though and she is a pretty one!

Here are a couple of pics to show her off! One is of our daughter, Bonnie, holding the new grandaughter!
We love you Reanna and welcome to the family Icelynn!

Moab Weekend

Labor Day weekend Michael and I went to Moab for a little R&R! The second day we were there we did a 4-wheelin' hummer tour. They took us up the mountains on some pretty steep hills, and at the top we relaxed a little and watched the most incredible sunset! Then we got to go back down the mountains and all those steep hills IN THE DARK!!!! Michael absolutely loved it! There were parts of it that I thought were pretty cool too but I guarantee you....I will never do that again! Been there, done that...that's all I have to say!

Firepit Christening Night!

Well, we finished the firepit today (except for the grate) and decided to have a christening tonight! We roasted wienies and marshmallows and had s'mores! It was so much fun, I'm glad we finally got this project going! We still have a big stone patio to do but we can enjoy the fires in the meantime.

Ellie loved the "marsh allows"
