Lucky me

Sometimes I find myself getting caught up in the "feel sorry for me blues". I start thinking if only I had done some things differently in my life maybe I could have been a better mother. If only I hadn't made some of the bad choices I made, I could have been a better person. But then I have to realize that every choice in my life, good or bad, has brought me to the point that I am today. Different choices could have changed my entire destiny and I wouldn't have the family that I have today. Would I change what I have? Not for a zillion dollars....sure, more money would be nice, more time to play would be fabulous, but the people I call family?
I am blessed with a wonderful, caring husband, 6 great kids (they cringe when I call them kids, my baby is almost 35). I have kids that call me regularly just to chat, kids that really seem to like hanging out with me, kids that never forget to say I love you mom. I even have the absolute best in-law kids! They are always willing to help when asked and when they come for dinner or parties there are always lots of hugs. And grandkids....whoa, I have the best grandkids on the planet! At this time last year I had 5 beautiful grandkids...then I got 4 new step-grandkids that are so nice, and we just got a brand new grandaughter. Yup, looking back if I had made different choices I could have changed the whole thing! So, I guess I should quit feeling bad about my past and just be very thankful for my present, because I have been truly blessed with my family.

A beginning...

Well, I have been telling myself to get with the program and get my blog up and running. Then I tell myself, who the heck wants to read anything I write or think about? Then I tell myself, who cares? Do it anyway! So...in my profile I mentioned we were waiting for a new grandaughter. She joined our family on November 19, 2007. Our daughter Jen and her husband Brian named her Ellie. She is beautiful...what more can be said!

My boss is allowing me to work from home two days a week so I can help with child care for Ellie...how lucky can one grammy be? It takes me a lot longer on those days to get my 8-hours but it is so worth it!
